International shopping center Central Phuket announced in late January an expansion of their facilities and offerings estimated at one billion Thai baht, or around USD $29 million. The announced expansion includes improvements to elevate the shopping center’s existing offerings and attract more luxury shoppers to the center.

The expansion involves additional extensions to the mall’s Floresta Zone, which aims to boost the area’s floor space to around 200,000 square meters and increase the number of luxury boutiques to 25 brands including Burberry, Dior, Hermès, and Gucci.

New and Expanded Brand Offerings at Central Phuket

Among the announced expansions are the renovations to Central Phuket’s Louis Vuitton boutique, making the branch the largest LV boutique in Southern Thailand. Another expansion announced by Central Phuket is the introduction of the largest Prada boutique in the country, covering 597 meters’ worth of retail space.

Jewelry brand Tiffany & Co. is also expected to open their flagship store in Central Phuket to establish the brand’s presence in the region. Finally, plans to open a new Celine boutique in Phuket were also announced, and is hotly anticipated among the new offerings.

High street brands are also expected to be part of Central Phuket’s expansion plans. Some of the high street names in Central Phuket include the Zara flagship, which aims to open its largest store in Southeast Asia inside the shopping center, and Lululemon, which will open its first athleisure store outside Bangkok.

The Next Global Luxury Shopping Destination

Currently Central Phuket attracts an estimated 80,000 visitors daily, of which 70% are international tourists. By attracting more luxury shoppers, Central Phuket now aims to become a premier global shopping destination.

The shopping center’s expansion is also in line with Thailand’s priorities to attract more visitors in the luxury travel sector.  Coupled with the luxury facilities in Phuket for travelers, including a 5-star private jet terminal, world-class yacht marinas and fine dining options, Central Phuket’s presence serves to reinforce the island’s status as a luxury destination.

Through its current expansion plans, Central Phuket also aims to provide more access to luxury brands and goods, promote exclusive shopping opportunities, and enhance shopping experiences across the board.
